I took him for his 1 month well visit on Monday. He had a good checkup, but did not weigh as much as I was expecting. The pediatrician reassured me that it is adequate weight gain for a breast fed baby, but I was really expecting him to weigh more.
Current Stats:
~7 pounds, 12 ounces (7th percentile). This is up from 6 pounds, 12 ounces at his 4 day weight check.
~20 1/2 inches long (15th percentile). This is up from 18 1/4 at 4 days old. I'm not sure how he shrunk from 20 inches at birth to 18 1/4? One of those measurements was obviously wrong.
Addie's weight percentile was very similar to this when she was a baby. She gained weight slowly at first and as a new mom, it stressed me out so I started supplementing with formula when she was about this age. That was detrimental to my milk supply so I hope I don't have to do that again. I'm determined to breast feed as long as I can so I'm taking Fenugreek now and pumping after most feedings to boost my milk supply and I hope this will help Cole gain weight more quickly.
A few facts about Cole at 1 month old:
~He is still wearing newborn size clothing and some 0-3 months clothing. The only things that he has really outgrown is some of his preemie size outfits.
~He is in size newborn diapers. I'm hoping we can move up to size 1 soon because I have a lot of size 1 diapers. He has gone through about 10 packs of diapers already...that's a lot of diapers!
~He eats every 2 to 3 hours during the day for a total of about 9 times a day.
~He still wakes up only once a night to eat.
~ He loves his vibrating seat and it has been a lifesaver for this mommy. He sits in it while I shower, cook, clean, play with Addie, or whatever else I need to do. If I need to put him down, he is usually fine as long as he is in his vibrating seat.
~He is still sleeping in the sleeper that is in the bed with me. This has been wonderful and I love having him right next to me.
~He takes naps in his crib during the day. I'm getting him used to his crib so hopefully he will sleep well when it's time for him to sleep in it at night.
~He is doing better with bath time, but he still doesn't like it very much.
~He still loves to be swaddled and he sleeps swaddled every night and during most naps.
~He loves the top of his head to be rubbed. It can always soothe him and he usually rolls his eyes and falls asleep when I run his head.
~He is a very good baby and seems to have a laid back personality.
Here are some pictures of our sweet boy. I ordered these monthly onsie stickers from Etsy and I plan to do a photo shoot each month to show how much he is growing and changing. There is one for each month and they all have sock monkeys on them.
These pictures actually come from three different photo shoots that I did in a 24 hour period. I finally got the ones I wanted. He's not always excited about mommy's photo shoots. Here are the outtakes:
Well, that's the update on Cole. Addie is doing great also and is such a good big sister. I've got some good pictures that I've taken of her this week too and I will share those soon.

I love the pictures of Cole. Ellie Kate saw them and said,"He is SO cute and they have a wocking chair just like ours."
Cole and Jack need to hang out. Cole needs to tell Jack that it's okay if your mommy doesn't hold you 24/7:)
Can't wait to see Addie's pics.
I LOVE the sock monkey month by month onsies. I did not see them when I looked at etsy or I would have changed my mind about getting the 12 month file. We have a photographer taking Enoch's 4 month pics with him wearing a crocheted sock monkey hat I found on etsy and the sock monkey my dad made Enoch! Cole is so handsome! I'm so glad you are enjoying being at home! I think it's the BEST!
